Feinmann earns Gold and Silver
at BRAGB’s 2023 Prism awards

Boston, MA The Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Boston (BRAGB) held its PRISM awards ceremony and presented Feinmann, Inc. with Gold and Silver awards. The event, held this year at the Boston Museum of Science, recognizes the finest projects and outstanding achievements of home building professionals.

Feinmann, Inc., a design-build company and long-time contributor to the advancement of the design-build profession, was presented with a Gold Award in the category of Best Kitchen Remodel Over $300,000 and a Silver Award in the category of Best Bathroom Remodel over $150,000. “We are proud of the team and client collaboration that made these projects successful, and we are delighted that a national panel of distinguished industry professionals recognized our work in this manner,” said Peter Feinmann.

Gold Award winner, “Antique Charm Meets Modern Lifestyle,” is a kitchen redesign and expansion in a 200-year-old home located in Charlestown, Mass. Early in the project it was discovered that the rear section of the house had no foundation. Feinmann, Inc. worked through this unforeseen challenge by designing a two-story addition which replaced the entire back of the house. The lower level of the addition now accommodates a spacious kitchen while the upper level is a second-story bedroom suite. The kitchen, informed by an old-world aesthetic, has features that blend antique charm with modern living. The space features hand-sanded reclaimed wood flooring, a marble island, soapstone perimeter countertops, windowed French-style doors, a wrought iron fire back, and a traditional range from Italy.

Silver Award winner, “Soaking Up the View,” is the transformation of a cookie-cutter, new construction home whereby the primary bathroom was redesigned to create a luxurious haven, with improved lighting, a more cohesive floor plan, and a view of Boston. Typical in many homes, the owners had the square footage and the potential for more light, yet the house was not designed to harmonize with the movement and flow of natural sunlight. In this collaboration, Feinmann listened to the clients’ vision and renovated the primary bathroom by opening the space and softening corners to achieve a seamless flow.

Ask the Electrician: How do I prepare my commercial building for a disaster?

New England’s notorious weather – from fierce winter storms to summer squalls and fall hurricanes – can leave businesses in the dark. While power outages are often blamed on storms, they can also be caused by unforeseen events like accidents or construction mishaps. While it’s impossible to prevent disasters and power outages entirely, proactive preparation can significantly minimize their impact on your commercial building.

State legislature ends session without passing PLA bill - by Joe Camilo

Massachusetts taxpayers dodged a bullet when the state Senate didn’t take up legislation passed by the House in the waning moments of the legislative session that would have made it easier for municipalities and state agencies to use union-only project labor agreements (PLAs) on construction projects.
