Essex Builders awarded $3.6 million contract to build 25,000 s/f mixed-use for Just-A-Start

Essex Builders Corp. has secured a $3.6 million contract from Just-A-Start Corp. to construct Elm Place, a 25,000 s/f mixed use development. The architect of record, VMY Vitols Architects, Inc. prepared construction documents employing a conceptual design developed by Dingman Allison Architects, Inc., P.C. The 4-story building will incorporate retail space at street grade with 19 residential units. Gordon Gottsche, executive director of Just-A-Start said, "Establishing an acceptable design which is feasible, even during these tough economic times, is a testament to all involved. Cost was not the only consideration. Our commitment to the environment is being backed up with real action, by setting a goal to secure USGBC's LEED Gold certification." David O'Neil, president of Essex said, "We have completed several projects for Just-A-Start, and yet even when Elm Place was competitively bid, we still came through."
