Erland Construction completes John and Diane Kim Autism Institute at New England Center for Children

Southborough, MA The New England Center for Children (NECC) celebrated the ribbon-cutting for the new three-story, 33,000 s/f John and Diane Kim Autism Institute, which is connected to the main campus building. Built by Erland Construction, this year-long project was completed on schedule and on budget. In attendance at the event were members of Massachusetts legislature and former governor Michael Dukakis, who has been involved with the center since the 1970s.

The new institute, designed by Dixon Salo Architects of Worcester, houses research, professional training and technology facilities. NECC is a global leader dedicated for the past 40 years to transforming the lives of children with autism and provides day and residential programs for students ages 3 - 22 years. This addition was a special project for Erland – knowing that it will provide long term benefits for the researchers, teachers, students, and families living with autism.

Jared Bouzan, NECC’s chief development officer said, “We could not be happier to announce the opening of the John and Diane Kim Autism Institute. The Kim Autism Institute provides state-of-the-art space for our research teams as well as our graduate and professional education programs. Erland Construction has been a terrific partner throughout this project, and completed the work on schedule with exceptional quality. The work was done within an active campus with complete consideration for staff and student safety.”
