Erland Construction and CBT Architects renovate Fessenden School ice rink

Newton, MA Returning for their fourth project together, Erland Construction and CBT Architects were selected by The Fessenden School, an independent boys’ boarding and day school, to improve 5,610 s/f of the school’s existing ice rink facility. The renovation will support the ongoing needs of Fessenden’s hockey and ice rink rental programs.

Updates to the rink include installing new fire protection services, life safety systems, and ADA accommodations. The facility’s public restrooms will also be completely refreshed. Throughout the project, Erland will work closely with the school and Preferred Mechanical to coordinate construction around the concurrent upgrades to the rink’s ice surface.

“We really value the partnership we’ve cultivated with The Fessenden School in the time that we’ve worked together,” said Ben McConchie, academic group manager, Erland. “Our team is excited to be back on campus and partnering with the school and Preferred Mechanical to revitalize the ice rink.”

The renovation is scheduled to be completed this July. As with any project, Erland is committed to safety and minimal disruption to the school’s ongoing operations, child care center, and summer camp activities.
