Erland completes work at three college campuses

Erland Construction wrapped up the construction of three "summer slammer" campus improvement projects. Students at Framingham State University, Westfield State University, and Springfield College will enjoy newly renovated facilities. At Framingham, Erland completed an expansion and renovation of the dining facilities within the McCarthy Center. The 5,500 s/f addition increases seating - with 200 new seats. Moving forward, the school plans to utilize this new space for functions and large gatherings, as well as for student dining. For Erland's seventh consecutive summer of dormitory renovations at Westfield State, Erland replaced the exterior windows and roofs in three apartment-style dormitories. Interior work included new rugs, sinks, and mechanical system for each building. The renovations to Locklin Hall at Springfield College - the fifth project Erland has managed for the school - upgraded the main classroom building that was originally built in 1914. The 64,960 s/f building is comprised of three floors and a basement and houses classroom space and administrative offices. Work included partial window replacement; a new energy efficient, code-compliant white roof; exterior masonry restoration; a new stairwell addition; lobby upgrades on each floor; and other floor plan reconfigurations. Locklin Hall remained partially operational throughout the summer, so Erland created a temporary second means of egress to ensure the safety of all individuals.
