Engle named environmental planning manager at WSP|Parsons Brinckerhoff

Marla Engel, Parsons Brinckerhoff

Boston, MA Marla Engel has been named an environmental planning manager of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff.

In her new position, Engel will lead the environmental planning practice for New England. In this role, Engel will prepare environmental review documents; obtain federal, state and local environmental permits and clearances for transportation projects; and act as project manager on large environmental and transportation projects throughout New England. She will also serve as a key resource for environmental knowledge, project pursuits and staff development.

Engel has over 30 years of experience as a senior environmental planner and project manager, conducting National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and other environmental analyses for major public transportation infrastructure projects in the private and public sectors, including airports, highways, rail and transit. Prior to joining WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, she served as the NEPA team leader and environmental protection specialist for the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Volpe National Transportation Systems Center.  

Engel earned a master’s degree in regional planning from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and a bachelor’s degree in urban planning and political science from Rutgers University.

Her professional affiliations include the American Planning Association and the Transportation Research Board, where she serves on the standing committee on environmental analysis in transportation.
