EICA honoree: EnviroVantage awarded for T.J. McIntyre Federal Office Building project

EnviroVantage was the recipient of a second place Excellence in Construction Award from the Massachusetts Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). EnviroVantage's award in the annual statewide competition is in the "Commercial/Institutional/Industrial under $1 million" category for its work on the T.J. McIntyre Federal Office Building. EnviroVantage is one of only 16 contractors selected as recipients of ABC's 2011 Excellence in Construction Awards. "EnviroVantage's work represents the state-of-the-art in construction," said Massachusetts ABC president Greg Beeman. "They should be justifiably proud of this achievement. Work of this caliber is helping to raise the standards of excellence throughout the construction industry." The company's work on this project was supposed to last three weeks, but difficulties with site access turned that into six months. Competition judges noted security challenges that required the contractor to maintain the same employee team for the duration of the job. Project owner Schroeder Construction Management was recognized along with EnviroVantage as part of the project team. The award winners were determined by an independent panel of expert judges based on execution of design, craftsmanship, attention to detail, safety and other considerations. The judges were: Daniel Carson, Daniel Carson Consulting Engineering, Charles Sacre, Kleinfelder/SEA Consultants, Paul Tyrell, STV Inc., Jim Flanagan, FlanaConsulting.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
