East Cambridge Savings Bank donates $10,000 to Medford Recreation Program

Cambridge, MA East Cambridge Savings Bank president and chief executive officer Gilda Nogueira, joined by the bank’s board of directors executive committee, presented mayor Stephanie Burke of Medford with a $10,000 donation to support the Medford Summer Recreation Program. This program provides numerous activities, sports clinics and classes for Medford children, families and seniors during the summer months.

Through this program, Medford residents of all ages have the opportunity to access free outdoor activities. The Medford Summer Recreation Program includes passes to Wright’s Pond and Tufts pool, athletic clinics and yoga in the park. The highlight of the summer is the Parks Program which gives youth ages 5-16 an opportunity to get out and move, play and create during the summer months. Creative programs include filmmaking, electronic circuitry design and computing coding. 

Nogueira said, “East Cambridge Savings Bank has a long history of supporting initiatives that strengthen our communities and enrich the lives of local children and families. The Medford Summer Recreation Program ensures that all Medford residents, regardless of income or ability, can have access to a safe, fun and enjoyable summer.”

Mayor Burke reflected on the importance of partnering with businesses to support summer programs and said, “As a city, we are committed to providing programs and activities for our residents during the summer months and count on the support of business partners like East Cambridge Savings Bank,” said Burke. “This is a great example of a community based bank like East Cambridge Savings Bank making a direct and meaningful impact on its customers and Medford residents.”
