DuRoss and Hazelwood principals of CTA Construction; Tompkins and Coghlin remain as directors of firm

Waltham, MA CTA Construction Managers said that vice presidents Paul DuRoss and Jeff Hazelwood have been promoted to principals.  DuRoss and Hazelwood will assume responsibility for running the day-to-day operations of CTA Construction.

Paul DuRoss, CTA

DuRoss and Hazelwood have been with CTA Const. for 15 years, and their expertise has been instrumental in the company’s growth during this period. In their new role as principals, they will utilize their leadership and experience to oversee complex building construction projects, continue to grow the company and provide additional opportunities for employees.

DuRoss and Hazelwood succeed CTA co-founders and former principals Patrick Tompkins and Lyle Coghlin, who will remain with the firm as directors.

Tompkins and Coghlin will continue to provide guidance and focus on new growth opportunities and strategic initiatives aimed at expanding CTA’s footprint in the institutional and commercial real estate development space.

“After 17 years and over $1 billion in completed construction we feel it is the right time to allow the next generation of talent to lead CTA into the future,” said Tompkins.  “We are confident that under Paul and Jeff’s leadership CTA will continue to provide its clients with exceptional construction services and high quality building projects.”

Both DuRoss and Hazelwood have extensive experience in construction management. Hazelwood has overseen a number of complex, deadline driven projects and specializes in engineering and the procurement of materials, equipment, and trade contractors. DuRoss has worked at every level of construction, which has given him the technical experience, skills and knowledge necessary to manage and deliver logistically complex projects that require intensive coordination.

Jeff Hazelwood, CTA

Under the leadership of DuRoss and Hazelwood, CTA projects have been recognized with a variety of industry awards for construction excellence, including “Project of the Year” from the American Public Works Association and “Building Project of the Year” from Construction Management Association of America.

“Paul and Jeff are known for their integrity and ability to create strong relationships in every phase of the construction process – enabling them to deliver the very best for clients,” said Coghlin. “Their work and skills have been invaluable to CTA’s growth, particularly in municipal construction, and they are ideally suited for this new role.”

Past projects managed by DuRoss and Hazelwood include the Park Ave. Elementary School in Webster, the Bresnahan Elementary School in Newburyport, the Marshall Simonds Middle School in Burlington, Maynard High School, Scituate Public Safety Building, Beverly High School, Tewksbury High School, Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School, and the Revere police headquarters and fire station.

Hazelwood has a master’s degree in Business Administration from Boston University, a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from UMass Amherst, and a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Syracuse University. DuRoss has a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Villanova University.
