Downes Construction Company and D’Amato
Construction finalize $31 million project at Bristol City Hall

Bristol, CT Downes Construction Company has completed renovations to Bristol City Hall. The city held a rededication ceremony for the newly renovated Bristol City Hall on October 22nd. Downes’ president David Patrick and vice president of operations Thomas Romagnoli attended the ceremony to share in the celebration with members of the city. The renovations of and addition to the existing City Hall were designed to better serve local residents and provide the city with a sustainable facility that meets the city’s needs.

Downes Construction along with joint venture partner D’Amato Construction was chosen as the construction manager for the $31 million renovation and addition project of City Hall. The original 1960s building was gutted to the original cast-in-place structure and fully renovated inside and out. An addition to the building includes a new atrium and curtain wall façade. The atrium creates a visually prominent entryway into the building while also addressing its accessibility issues, making the renovated building ADA compliant.

The completed building has increased efficiencies and improved office space for citizens and city staff, replaced and upgraded existing mechanical systems (heat, air conditioning and potable water and sanitary facilities), improved handicap accessibility to and within the building, improved security, & upgraded exterior building aesthetics.
