Our company, Rene L. Poyant, Inc., was founded in 1947 by former baker, Rene L. Poyant, who was originally operating out of his Main Street bakery. Rene discovered tremendous success in property sales, and opened his own proprietorship in 1947- at one time brokering real estate throughout New England, primarily in Southeastern Massachusetts. Rene continued coming into his office on Barnstable Road daily until shortly before his death in 2000.
In 1967 the second generation took over when Rene's son, Marcel, came aboard. A graduate of Boston College with a BS in Finance, Marcel received his MBA in Real Estate from Southern Methodist University. The firm's focus started to shift as Marcel expanded into real estate appraising, mortgage brokerage, and commercial property management. Marcel is a Massachusetts Certified General Appraiser, Residential Member of the Appraisal Institute, and an Associate Member of the Massachusetts Board of Real Estate Appraisers.
In 2002 the third generation joined the firm when Marcel's son, Rene became active as head of property management. Rene has an Associates Degree from Cape Cod Community College with a major in Information Technology. In addition he earned Certificates in institutional maintenance and landscaping.
After approximately forty-four years on Barnstable Road in Hyannis, we moved our office to the Centerville Shopping Center on August 20, 2007. Since April of 2009, we have discontinued real estate brokerage and have limited our service to commercial property management, and real estate appraising and consulting.
