Daniel O’Connell’s Sons hires Hassanein as president

Holyoke, MA According to Daniel O’Connell’s Sons (DOC), a general contractor and construction management firm, Joubin Hassanein has joined the firm as president. In this role, Hassanein will be responsible for the management and strategic direction at the firm. He will succeed Jeff Bardell who is retiring after leading DOC for the past 16 years. Hassanein will be the eighth president in DOC’s 141-year history.

Prior to joining Daniel O’Connell’s Sons, Hassanein served as the director of the New England Group for Shawmut Design and Construction where he managed projects ranging in size from $500,000 to $200 million. Prior to Shawmut, he was the New England district manager for Nicholson Construction. 

He designed and implemented a business development plan in New England, including the development of strategic partnerships to increase the firm’s visibility in the bidding process. He started his career as a construction manager with Modern Continental / Jay Cashman where he worked on one of the most complicated urban projects in the history of the U.S. – the “Big Dig”.

Joubin earned a degree in civil engineering from the Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada and trained as a structural engineer in Canada where he was a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario for over 25 years. He is a member of the Lean Construction Institute (LCI) and serves on the school building committee for the town of Wellesley, Mass.
