Curtis Construction Co. celebrates 20th anniversary

John Curtis

Stoughton, MA John Curtis has had only two employers during his 33-year career in construction. While still enrolled at Wentworth, he landed a job with Corcoran Jennison Construction and remained there for 13 years. During these years he was fortunate to work for several outstanding mentors and learn many valuable lessons throughout the industry’s ups and downs. In May of 1998 Curtis decided it was time to fulfill a longstanding plan and founded Curtis Construction.

It was the HarborCOV Housing project in Chelsea, Curtis Construction’s first affordable housing project, that attracted Curtis to working with affordable housing developers. Impressed by the sincerity and enthusiasm presented by the men and women who performed non-profit work in service of their missions, he found it to be a good fit for his firm’s organizational culture.

Curtis employees’ esprit de corps and the shared philosophy of doing the best possible work allows its work family to feel an important sense of pride and civic contribution.  The Curtis team prides itself on its ability to work together to ensure client’s projects are managed professionally and to their successful conclusion.

Since 1998, Curtis Construction has built thousands of affordable and market rate housing units as well as many projects for educational and corporate clients.  From exam rooms for ophthalmologists to squash courts for a private high school, to a fitness facility with locker rooms for an independent living center, Curtis Construction is committed to providing clients with professional construction management services.  Dedication to developing long term client relationships has resulted in many clients repeatedly relying on Curtis to consult on and expertly manage the buildout of their projects.

1998 was an exciting year of beginnings for Curtis; new family, new business, new unknowns. Now the future knows no limits as Curtis Construction continues to strive to provide clients with expert construction management services, continuing to earn the reputation as a professional, dependable partner.

Curtis and his team will be celebrating the past 20-years of success while looking forward to the future with a party for friends and partners the end of June at the Irish Cultural Center in Canton.

Curtis Construction provides general contracting, construction management and design-build services to private developers and non-profit organizations located throughout Massachusetts and Southern New England. Projects range from small tenant fit-outs to new ground-up construction to complex adaptive re-use, often with substantial complexities.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
