CTA Const. completes $15m Southborough Public Safety Complex

Southborough, MA CTA Construction has completed the new $15 million Southborough Public Safety Complex, which houses the town’s police and fire departments.
The new complex was built on six acres purchased from the Southborough Golf Club. In 2018, CTA Construction was selected by the town to lead construction on the new facility that replaced both the existing Southborough Police Station and Southborough Fire Station.
“We’re thrilled about the opening of this new space, which will improve response times and emergency services throughout Southborough,” said Paul DuRoss, a principal at CTA. “Our team has completed a state-of-the-art facility that Southborough’s dedicated police officers and firefighters can utilize to benefit the entire community.”
The new 35,000 s/f two-story space features energy-efficient fire and police facilities including public meeting and training rooms, administrative offices, and dormitory-style accommodations.
Another critical feature of the project included the relocation / reconstruction of a Police - Fire Memorial from the original monument location in front of the fire department facility on Main St.  The memorial was originally built by town residents in memory of fallen first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice on 9/11.  The memorial was dedicated in its new location on 9/11/19.

Ask the Electrician: How do I prepare my commercial building for a disaster?

New England’s notorious weather – from fierce winter storms to summer squalls and fall hurricanes – can leave businesses in the dark. State legislature ends session without passing PLA bill - by Joe Camilo

Massachusetts taxpayers dodged a bullet when the state Senate didn’t take up legislation passed by the House in the waning moments of the legislative session that would have made it easier for municipalities and state agencies to use union-only project labor agreements (PLAs) on construction projects.
