Project of the Month: Cox Engineering expands/relocates into 74,000 s/f headquarters at Great Pond Commerce Center

Randolph, MA Family-owned Cox Engineering has completed their relocation into a new corporate headquarters location at 21 Pacella Park Dr. The firm’s move into the 74,000 s/f building, the former Sears Service facility in the Great Pond Commerce Center, included extensive office and manufacturing space renovations and new machinery to greatly enhance the company’s production. Cox more than doubled their manufacturing floor space going from 24,000 s/f to 60,000 s/f.

Three divisions operate out of the new Randolph facility: 

• Cox Engineering Co. a mechanical contractor self-preforming HVAC pipe and sheet metal for the Boston commercial market

• Cox Service an HVAC maintenance and service provider operating 25 service vans, serving eastern Mass.

• Cambridgeport Custom: Manufacturers of custom air handling and energy recovery equipment.  

A fourth division, Cambridgeport Air Systems, manufacturers air handling accessories out of Salisbury, Mass.  

The project included opening up 60,000 s/f of manufacturing space with new electrical, compressed air, cranes and exhaust systems to accommodate the new operations.  14,000 s/f of new office space has been built out on two levels accessed by a new lobby/entrance. The project team was able to complete the substantial work in six months allowing Cox to minimize disruption to their operations.

Cox Engineering which was founded in 1914 is a third-generation family-owned and operated company which currently has 265 employees. Some of Cox’s bigger projects and clients include Gillette Stadium, the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, Harvard University, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute among others.
