Cox Engineering acquires USAir Conditioning-Heating, Inc.

Weymouth, MA Cox Engineering, a Boston-based mechanical contractor and HVAC service provider, has completed the acquisition of US Air Conditioning-Heating, Inc. (US Air), an HVAC servicing company. The acquisition marks a new chapter for both companies – scaling the collective group to be one of the largest and best HVAC service providers in the eastern Massachusetts market.

Cox is a 100-year-old family-owned company led by president and CEO Jon Desmond.  “The team at USAir built an incredible business over the past 19 years and we are enthusiastic to have them join us. The addition of their talented team of professionals allows Cox to further enhance our capabilities with large tonnage Chiller expertise,” said Desmond.

Established in 2004, USAir has provided quality service for the Greater Boston area and beyond. It has been providing solutions in the servicing, maintenance, engineering and installation of heating, refrigeration, air conditioning and process mechanical systems for over twenty years. The USAir team will continue to deliver value to its customers under the existing name, operating as a division of Cox Engineering.

Known for its expertise in chiller services, USAir services high-profile clients such as Northeastern University, Entegris, and UMass Medical Center.

“We believe there is tremendous synergy between Cox and USAir and the relationship creates opportunities to enhance the experience we deliver for our customers,” said Pat Clifford, owner of US Air. “Much like our company, Cox cares about their people and is steadfast in their values, and I am excited for this next chapter together.”

Cox began in 1914 as a sheet metal contractor, and became a full mechanical company in the 1980’s.  Truly unique in the market, Cox and its sister companies Cambridgeport Custom and Cambridgeport Air Systems deliver HVAC construction and service, custom air handling equipment and HVAC accessories.

Cox provides mechanical installations for construction managers and owners with concentrations in the life science, healthcare, institutional and tenant fit-out markets. Cox Service delivers a full range of capabilities from 24-hour emergency response/repair, equipment upgrades/replacement, system design/redesign, energy auditing, and retro-commissioning to preventative maintenance.  Recent projects include Boynton Yards, 201 Brookline Ave. and Crispr Therapeutics.
