Consigli, Payette and PMA Consultants win New England CMMA award for 255,000 s/f UMass Medical School project

The design build team of Consigli Construction Co., Inc. and Payette, along with PMA Consultants was recently honored with the 2011 Project of the Year Award for the Ambulatory Care Center at the University of Massachusetts Medical School by the New England Chapter of the Construction Management Association (CMAA). The 9-story, 255,000 s/f, multi-purpose medical facility, which integrates medical education, clinical research and ambulatory patient care under one roof, received the Building Project of the Year Award for projects greater than $100 million. Working with the UMass Medical School, the building team created a patient care and research facility that serves residents across central and western Mass. Special green design features incorporated in the Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) included maximum use of daylight in the interior spaces; occupancy sensor lighting controls; energy-efficient heating and cooling systems; and the use of recycled materials throughout the building. The ACC also was provided a 7-D model of mechanical/electrical/plumbing systems to use for ongoing facilities maintenance and operations. The CMAA New England Region Chapter holds its annual Project Achievement Awards to recognize exceptional achievement in the New England construction management community. The Awards Committee is composed of owners and professional construction manager who consider outcomes, overall management, safety, quality management, cost and schedule management, complexity, innovation, creativity and customer satisfaction as the basis for the award.
