Consigli Const. joins UMass. officials to launch Life Sciences Lab

Amherst, MA Consigli Construction Co., Inc. joined officials from the University of Massachusetts to launch the Life Sciences Laboratories on campus. The new 64,000 s/f facility houses the university’s Institute for Applied Life Sciences (IALS).

The project encompassed four levels of fit-out space with the second level requiring the installation of a 3 Tesla MRI magnet and related support spaces. The third level includes the Center for Bioinformatics and a User Testing Center, as well as conference and seminar facilities for industry and university gatherings. 

The fourth level includes the Center for Bioactive Delivery, including Drug Delivery Systems while level five is the Center for Personalized Health Monitoring. Additional features of the wing include flexible lab space and administrative offices.

The project was built to LEED Silver certification while meeting the requirements of the Mass LEED Plus initiative.

“This state-of-the-art facility now serves as the home to the very best in innovative technologies and the very best minds in medical research,” said CEO Anthony Consigli. “We’re honored to have built a project where work that could change the world happens every day.”
