Connecticut chapter of ASLA names 2016 winners of Connecticut Professional Awards

Hartford, CT The Connecticut Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (CTASLA) has announced the winners of its annual Connecticut Professional Awards competition. CTASLA conducts the awards competition each year to recognize excellence in landscape architectural design, planning and analysis, communication, and research. To be eligible, an applicant must be a landscape architect or designer in the state of Connecticut, and the entrant or project location must be based in Connecticut. "These award-winning projects showcase the incredible talents of Connecticut landscape architects," said Barbara Yaeger, president of CTASLA and principal of B.Yaeger, LLC, of Madison, CT. "Our members design beautiful spaces that encourage people to get outside, explore their surroundings, and interact with other members of the community; simultaneously, they are stewards of the land, protecting natural resources, creating habitat, and helping the world address such concerns as climate change." Winners of the 2016 Connecticut ASLA Professional Awards competition include: Landscape Architectural Design – Corporate Institutional Towers|Golde, LLC (New Haven), Award of Excellence for The Phoenix Plaza (Phoenix Life Insurance Company / Hartford, CT) Devore Associates, LLC (Fairfield), Merit Award for Marriott Plaza (Culinary Institute of America / Hyde Park, NY) Landscape Architectural Design – Residential Artemis Landscape Architects, Inc. (Bridgeport), Honor Award for Environmentally Sustainable Post-Sandy Beachfront (Private Residence / Fairfield, CT) Artemis Landscape Architects, Inc. (Bridgeport), Merit Award for Seaside Terraces in Balance with Nature (Private Residence / Darien, CT) Landscape Architectural Design – Municipal/Public Spaces Wesley Stout Associates, LLC (New Canaan), Merit Award for Port Chester Beer Garden (Heartland Brewery / Port Chester, NY) Landscape Planning & Analysis The S/L/A/M Collaborative (Glastonbury), Merit Award for Providence College Landscape & Land Use Master Plan (Providence College / Providence, RI) Milone & MacBroom, Inc. The jury for this year’s competition was comprised of members of the Texas Chapter of ASLA. Founded in 1899, the American Society of Landscape Architects is the national professional association for landscape architects, representing more than 15,000 members. Landscape architecture is a comprehensive discipline of land analysis, planning, design, management, preservation and rehabilitation. ASLA promotes the landscape architecture profession and advances the practice through advocacy, education, communication and fellowship.
