Beverly, MA Connolly Brothers, Inc., a construction management firm serving private commercial, industrial, and institutional clients, announced today that Jay Connolly was elected president and Thaddeus Minshall was named vice president of real estate and development. Stephen J. Connolly IV has taken on a newly created role as advisor. In addition, the company is celebrating its 140th anniversary this year.

Founded in 1880, Connolly Brothers is dedicated to providing quality, professional construction services to its commercial, industrial, and institutional clients. The company’s years of experience enable it to price and budget more accurately, manage more effectively, and add value at every stage in the construction process. In fact, year-in and year-out, over 70% of clients return to Connolly with plans for new construction projects.

“I’m proud of the work we’ve completed over the past 49 years, and the relationships we’ve continued to build along the way while I have been involved with the company,” said Stephen Connolly IV. “I’m also proud of my son and son-in-law for the work they are doing to ensure that the quality of work and unmatched client experience that Connolly Brothers is known for will continue into the future.”

Established by Jay and Thad in 2018, the 1880 Fund is committed to making a difference in local communities by working collaboratively with local agencies, offering support where no other support may be available.  For example, last year Connolly sponsored a “Build A Bed” event at its headquarters in Beverly. Teams of two to four people were given the necessary materials and were able to build 61 beds. The newly built bed frames were delivered to children in need, along with a new twin mattress and bedding.

Jay Connolly, President
“I’m grateful that my father taught me about the construction industry without ever pressuring me to join it, and for instilling in me the values that have made Connolly successful over the past 140 years,” Jay Connolly said.

Representing the fifth generation to lead Connolly Brothers, Jay joined the company in 2007 as a project manager. In 2014 he was promoted to vice president. In his role as president, Jay is committed to providing the vision, leadership, and strategy to drive the highest standards and results in the construction industry. Jay has served on the board of directors of the North Shore Chamber of Commerce and is a member of Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC), SIOR, and NAIOP. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in communications and history from Boston College.

Thad Minshall, Vice President of Real Estate & Development
“Working with a true design-build construction management firm allows for phenomenal insight into property acquisition and development,” said Minshall. “It’s an honor to be a part of such a storied family team, and exciting to continue to expand Connolly Brothers’ reach in this way.”

For the first time in the company’s history, it will have someone dedicated to real estate and development. In this role, Thad will direct the property management team for all company-owned real estate, manage leasing and tenant relations, and source real estate acquisitions. Previously, he was a vice president at Minshall Stewart Properties in Washington, DC. A member of Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC), SIOR, NAIOP, and the North Shore Chamber of Commerce, Thad holds a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Virginia (UVA).

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
