Company of the Month: Building Restoration Services Corp. has the capabilities to tackle any size project: services include waterproofing, masonry, roofing and specialty coatings/sealants

Building Restoration Services Corp. (BRS) is a full service building envelope restoration and waterproofing specialist. With services ranging from waterproofing masonry, roofing, concrete, specialty coatings, glazing and sealants BRS provides commercial property owners and managers a single source solution for most of their building improvement needs. Quality workmanship, safety and customer service are the focus of every project BRS undertakes. All BRS tradesmen are directly employed by the company and OSHA certified. All project worksites are inspected by an independent safety inspector to ensure every safety precaution is in place. These standard operating procedures and take place at least once a week. As for quality BRS stands behind its work by offering a five year warranty for most every project. With a 20,000 s/f warehouse and fabrication facility located in Boston BRS is capable of efficiently executing large, complex projects. The facility is managed by a team that is responsible for keeping it stocked with all of the materials, tools and equipment needed to support each project. BRS also employs a full time load master who ensures each work crew has the materials and tools needed for each day's assignment. Work crews are deployed daily from the site in service vehicles equipped with on board power and all of the tools and materials needed for the work day. This all translates into efficiency and productivity because once the crew arrives at the work site they don't leave until the end of the day. The fully equipped fabrication facility allows all steel, copper, mill work and glazing to be done in advance of when it's needed at a project site. This preparation eliminates lag time and can significantly speed the completion time of a project which decreases costs. Being able to fabricate away from the job site also eliminates inconvenience to building occupants who work at or near the site. Overall the project experience is a positive one for the property owners, managers and tenants. Productivity is further enhanced by having the proper access and trade equipment on the job when it's needed. BRS owns its own 135' boom lifts, mobile aerial trucks and scaffolding that can be deployed on an as needed basis which is not the case with rental equipment. For emergency situations such as water leaks or ice dams, BRS' mobile aerial truck (pictured) can access any building element up to 75'. Quick access is important when waiting for a piece of rental equipment to be delivered can mean extensive property damage. While large project keeps the business growing the company does a significant amount of service calls and small repairs. BRS is committed to helping its customers understand existing conditions that should be addressed before they turn into bigger more expensive problems. To facilitate this understanding BRS provides preventive maintenance plans designed to prevent small repairs from turning into big projects. Each maintenance program is designed to meet the specific needs of each customer based on property conditions and budget. The plans can be phased over multiple years or just a few months. With a plan in place the property owner/manager has a road map for prioritizing, budgeting and performing maintenance proactively. In addition to it's construction expertise BRS also provides design/build services. They are highly skilled at collaborating with owners and designers towards a cost effective, functional and well executed project. This closed loop capability enables BRS to propose value engineered solutions to meet budget constraints. The disconnect that can occur between design theory and field implementation is streamlined creating the opportunity for more creative and cost effective solutions to be implemented. This combination of services, facilities and equipment coupled with it's focus on the customer experience, safety and quality has won BRS many high profile projects in Greater Boston. From the historical restoration of Boston Center for the Arts to the design/ build renovation of the chic Wychmere Harbor Club. BRS has the capabilities to tackle any size project.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
