Collins to speak at IREM legislative and candidate mentoring breakfast

Wallingford, CT IREM Connecticut sponsored the Marketing and Leasing Strategies for Multifamily Properties - MKL405  on March 1 and 2, with 10 students participating and working towards their (CPM) Certified Property Management Designation. The class was instructed by Nancy Reno, CPM, and the students are one step closer to achieving their CPM designation. 

The chapter will be hosting a Legislative Breakfast and CPM Candidate Mentoring breakfast  on April 19th at Memories at Traditions. Attorney Collins specializes in government relations.  He has extensive political experience before state, local and federal government. He received his B.A. from the University of Hartford and Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Upon returning to Connecticut he became an assistant attorney general representing the Department of Public Utility Control where he litigated utility rate cases before all state and federal courts.  Upon leaving the Attorney General’s Office, Collins was assistant counsel and director of public affairs for the Connecticut Business & Industry Association. In addition to lobbying before the General Assembly and state agencies, he was CBIA’s liaison to the small business community.

Collins began private practice when he joined the law firm of Sorokin, Gross Hyde & Williams as partner in charge of their Government Relations Department.  In 1997 he started his own firm Marshall R. Collins & Associates that represented both non-profit and for-profit organizations and corporations.  In 2016 his firm merged with International Government Strategies, where he currently is a principal. 

 He has held local elective office and also served in leadership positions on numerous boards and organizations.  He is a past president of the Association of Connecticut Lobbyists.  His extensive local involvement includes serving as the chairperson of the Economic Development Commission and being elected to the board of education in the Town of Salem.  He currently is an elected member of the Board of Finance.

Collins is a licensed real estate broker, and has taught as the first Practitioner in Residence for the University of Hartford’s Politics and Government Department.
