CM&B awarded contract to build new Herb Chambers Toyota Medford

Medford, MA Construction Management and Builders, Inc. (CM&B) was awarded the contract to build The Herb Chambers Companies’ new Toyota dealership located at 400 Mystic Ave. Demolition of a three-story portion of the existing 89,000 s/f building is set to begin immediately as part of an ambitious redevelopment plan. Herb Chambers, who acquired the five-acre office property, formerly used as Century Bank’s headquarters, in January 2022, is committed to transforming the site into a larger facility. The project will involve renovating the existing structure and constructing a three-story addition of 40,000 s/f per floor, totaling 120,000 s/f. This new building will be seamlessly connected to the existing five-story tower on site, creating a modern dealership spanning 209,000 s/f that will better serve the community while enhancing the overall design and functionality of the property.

CM&B is partnering with a team of professionals on this project, including Regent Associates, Crocker Design Group, Quieto Consulting Engineers, R.W. Sullivan Consulting, Johnson Structural Engineering, Ryan Associates, Aries Engineering, and Chappell Engineering Associates. The collective expertise of these firms has been instrumental in ensuring the project’s success and securing the best outcomes for everyone involved.

“We are honored to have contributed to the design and permitting of this exciting project for the Herb Chambers Companies,” said David Newhall, PE at Crocker Design Group. “We are equally thrilled to now partner with CM&B in bringing Chambers’ vision for this property to life!”

CM&B is proud to contribute to this transformative project, which will not only elevate the automotive retail experience but also generate additional commercial tax revenue for the city. Additionally, the project will result in the creation of 50 new jobs for residents and 50 jobs that will be carried over from the Herb Chambers Toyota of Boston that will be relocated to this site.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to support clients like Herb Chambers on their tremendous growth trajectory. Throughout our 15-year partnership with Chambers, CM&B has successfully completed twelve projects, including eight occupied renovations, four ground-up dealerships, and the implementation of a new image program for twelve brands. The Toyota project in Medford will be the most high-profile collaboration to date and one we are very excited to be a part of,” said Tim Puopolo, executive vice president/COO at CM&B.
