Milford, CT On July 29, the CCIM Connecticut chapter held its fourth annual Investment and Development Trends Commercial Real Estate Symposium, held at the Great River Country Club.  Robert Knakal, chairman of investment sales at Cushman and Wakefield, NYC was the keynote speaker.  Knakal, through his presentation titled “If you are not confused, you are not paying attention,” gave his macro and micro view of the commercial real estate capital of the world, New York City, which he believes is showing clear signs of a plateau and in the later innings of the cycle.

The keynote presentation was followed up by a moderated panel discussion by Michael Goman, president of Goman & York, with several of the largest dealmakers in the country: Ken Kleban, president of Kleban Properties and one of the preferred developers for the GE Facility in Stamford, CT; Stan Glantz, chief development officer for Katz Properties who redevelops value added shopping centers across the United States; and Justin Goldberg, president of Navarino Capital, who currently owns and manages over 1,000 apartment units.  Steven Moreira, CCIM, 2016 President of the CCIMInstitute, presented on the state of the institute, how the CCIM brand is in demand globally as dictated by continued global expansion and how the CCIM designation creates opportunities.

The CCIM Connecticut chapter announced the naming of the “Wayne D’Amico, CCIM Named Endowed Scholarship,” in trust with the CCIMFoundation.  This will perpetually award an annual scholarship of $1,000 to a deserving, Connecticut commercial investment real estate professional pursuing the CCIM Designation.

D’Amico was in attendance to receive the honor noting, “It is an honor to be recognized for the years of service, but it is a true privilege to be helping the next generation of practitioners to excel for the many years to come.”
