Callahan Construction Managers completes construction at 220-unit The Cove

Hingham, MA  Callahan Construction Managers (Callahan) has completed The Cove, a multifamily development including a mix of market rate and affordable housing. The mid-rise, residential community was developed by Alliance Residential Company, while Callahan and CUBE 3 Architects were tasked with the construction and design of the new building.

The Cove consists of two buildings, both with four stories of wood framing above one level of post-tensioned podium parking. The property is located adjacent to the Hingham Shipyard, Hingham Ferry Station, nearly 500 acres of open space in Bare Cove Park, and is the third residential building in the town that Callahan has constructed, including Brio and The Residences at Penniman Hill. Callahan also previously completed the retail portion of the Launch at the Hingham Shipyard.

“Alliance is thrilled to once again be working with such a first-class operation and team,” said Michael Boujoulian, managing director of Alliance’s Northeast division. “Callahan Construction’s experience, professionalism and track record were all brought to bear at The Cove, and delivered what we think is the finest luxury community in Greater Boston.”

The apartment homes at The Cove feature high, 10’ ceilings and oversized windows, chef styled kitchens with gas ranges, generous sized open plan layouts, kitchen island with breakfast bar, dual sink vanities, walk-in closets, hardwood-style flooring, stainless steel appliances, artisan tile backsplashes, and water views, balconies and gas fireplaces in select homes. In addition to the 220 residential apartment units, the buildings features a mix of indoor/outdoor amenities including a media lounge with a four screen video wall, surround sound and fireplace, clubroom with billiards and a beer/wine tap, top floor sky lounge with bar, fireplace, and outdoor terrace with water and park views, fitness center, with cardio equipment and separate private/group class yoga studio, co- working lounge with two private conference rooms, hospitality inspired two-story lobby with light fixtures, resort-style swimming pool and courtyard featuring gas barbecue grills, an outdoor cooking and entertainment center, a fire pit, and poolside cabana seating.

“We are proud to unveil The Cove as the newest addition to the Hingham community,” said Patrick Callahan, president of Callahan “The Cove, along with our other multifamily housing project Brio, will both provide much-needed housing to the Hingham neighborhood and Greater Boston area.”

The Cove is situated adjacent to the Hingham Shipyard Marina neighborhood and it abuts Bare Cove Park, which is a 484-acre, historic, town-owned park situated along the banks of the Weymouth Back River. The project also includes a boardwalk for residents to directly access the park, with the courtyard and sky lounge positioned to maximize views of the open space.

With direct access to all the shopping, entertainment and restaurants at Hingham Shipyard, the property’s transit served location also provides convenient access to Boston via a 35-minute ferry ride to Rowe’s Wharf, Logan Airport, or the trains at South Station.

State legislature ends session without passing PLA bill - by Joe Camilo
