C.E. Floyd recognized for Excellence by ABC of Mass.

C.E. Floyd, a Bedford-based general contractor, has been named the recipient of a first place Excellence in Construction Award from the Massachusetts Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). C.E. Floyd's award in the annual statewide competition is in the "Historical Restoration over $1 million" category for its construction of the Fowler Branch of the Concord Free Library. C.E. Floyd is one of only 16 contractors selected as recipients of ABC's 2011 Excellence in Construction Awards. "C.E. Floyd's work represents the state-of-the-art in construction," said Mass. ABC president Greg Beeman. The historical restoration project included three small structural steel additions and completion of an unfinished basement that more than doubled the library's space to 10,000 square feet. Competition judges applauded C.E, Floyd's success in re-fabricating historic millwork elements, relocating the main entry and fabricating new elements to match historic details. Project owner Concord Free Library and architect John Roberts Associates were recognized along with C.E. Floyd as part of the project team. The award winners were determined by an independent panel of expert judges based on execution of design, craftsmanship, attention to detail, safety and other considerations. The judges were: Daniel Carson, Daniel Carson Consulting Engineering, Charles Sacre, Kleinfelder/SEA Consultants, Paul Tyrell, STV Incorporated, Jim Flanagan, FlanaConsulting.
