Busy Fall with REFA: Fall Conference and Annual Gala

On Friday, September 11th, REFA will host their annual Fall Conference at the Westin Waltham, www.westinwalthamboston.com 70 Third Ave., Waltham. This Fall Conference will provide an update on the suburban market, most notably Burlington, Westwood, Norwood, Briantree/Quincy. Hans Nordby, managing director, CoStar Portfolio Strategy, will address the audience as keynote speaker with an overview and insight into the market dynamics. The panel of some of the most active players in the suburban markets will then discuss overall market influences, development projects, and the current financing environment. Moderating the panel will be Heather Brown, senior vice president, JLL; panelists include: Bryan Blake, president and executive director, Calare Properties; Deane Dolben, president, The Dolben Company; and Rick Griffin, senior vice president & director of investments, R. J. Kelly, Inc. On Tuesday, September 29, REFA will host a Fundamentals of Real Estate program on Real Estate Tax Credits. The panel of distinguished tax experts will provide a high level overview of the tax rules associated with Historic Rehab Tax Credits, as well as an understanding of how these credits can help finance a real estate deal. Speakers include Larry Curtis, president and managing partner, WinnDevelopment; John Gahan, III, partner, Murtha Cullina; and Mike MacDonald, founder and principal, Bannockburn Capital. Bryan Koop, senior vice president and regional manager, Boston Properties will be the recipient of the Robert S. Swain Jr. Distinguished Service Award at the 27th Annual REFA Gala, to be held Thursday, October 8 at Westin Copley Place, Boston. The REFA Gala, which attracts over 550 real estate professionals, has long been a celebration of the organization's accomplishments, as well as recognizing an individual who has made significant contributions to the real estate industry and Greater Boston community. Members of REFA can attend a Members Only Luncheon on North Station project update on Tuesday, October 20. A panel of Boston Properties leaders will share their plans for North Station, a 1.8 million s/f mixed use development. Panelists include 27th Annual REFA Gala Distinguished Service Award Recipient Bryan Koop, senior vice president; Patrick Mulvihill, director, leasing; Kevin Sheehan, vice president, development.
