Bradley of DiPrete Engineering appointed to state code consistency council

Leonard Bradley Jr., PE, vice president at DiPrete Engineering, was recently appointed to the State of Rhode Island, Code Consistency Council by governor Lincoln Chafee. The council is responsible for examining the fire, building, elevator and other related state codes for consistency. "I am honored to have been appointed by governor Chafee to the Council," said Bradley. "I am excited to be part of this very important state wide initiative." "I look forward to working with my fellow council members to review our existing state codes and regulations with the ultimate goal of recommending improvements that will make it more conducive for businesses to grow and prosper in our great state," said Bradley. Bradley has over 25 years of engineering and design experience in New England. He is currently responsible for the firm's business development, advising clients on various projects and is responsible for mentoring and teaching DiPrete's engineering team. He also assists with the oversight and management of the firm's active projects, which often includes presenting at various municipal and state meetings. "Len's years of experience and knowledge of the state and local communities, as well as the state's codes and regulations has proved to be a tremendous asset to our company and our clients," said Dennis DiPrete, principal of DiPrete Engineering. The Code Consistency Council was signed into law in the summer of 2013. The 16-member council includes the state fire marshal and the Rhode Island building code commissioner serving as co-chairpersons. The panel will meet regularly and present its findings and recommendations to the General Assembly. "Len's role in helping review current state codes and improving the regulatory system will undoubtedly help spur economic development in Rhode Island," said DiPrete. "Currently, there are many rules and regulations which RI businesses must navigate through, this Council will help streamline those codes and make it easier for many businesses to grow in Rhode Island." Bradley has worked on a number of large projects, including the relocation of the New England Institute of Technology, the Site-Readiness Program at the Quonset Business Park, Dowling Village development in North Smithfield, R.I., the redevelopment of Kettle Point, and the Rhode Island Blood Center building addition and renovations. In addition to his new appointment, Bradley is also involved in the Rhode Island Consultant Engineers (RICE), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Urban Land Institute (ULI) and International Council for Shopping Centers (ICSC).
