Bowdoin Construction completes Supreme Council of Scottish Rite museum - designed by Bechtel Frank Erickson Architects

Bowdoin Construction recently completed extensive renovations at the National Heritage Museum, featuring the fitout of a new corporate headquarters for the Supreme Council of the Scottish Rite. The project, designed by Bechtel Frank Erickson Architects, involved converting two wings of the museum into first class offices and meeting rooms to accommodate the daily functions of the Scottish Rite. The newly completed space features high-end finishes including raised panel millwork, granite, etched glass, and bronze rails. Bowdoin also installed new bathrooms within the museum and renovated display corridors and a large function room requiring matching of millwork, ceiling systems and finishes. Construction also included a new structural entryway and surface parking to the side of the existing museum, which separates the new office functions and allowed the museum to remain operational throughout construction. The new entry was carefully blended to the existing brick structure, and twenty new windows were added to afford views of the exterior. The new parking area design allows the pastoral landscape around the building to be preserved, a feature prized by both visitors and Lexington residents alike.
