Boston Props. hires Vantage Builders for 13,000 s/f office renovation for Agri-Mark

Andover, MA  Vantage Builders, Inc. was hired by Boston Properties to complete a 13,000 s/f office renovation for Agri-Mark, producers of the award-winning Cabot dairy products

The project was completed at 40 Shattuck Rd., the dairy cooperative’s new corporate headquarters. Agri-Mark moved to Andover after being located in Methuen for more than 30 years.

The project team includes architectural services from Perkins + Will and engineering services from AHA Consulting Engineers.

In order to get the location ready for Agri-Mark, Vantage first completed a full gut demolition of the existing space.  The project required significant systems work, including modifying and upgrading the electrical and HVAC.

The finished project includes new flooring throughout the entire office, upgraded wall and ceiling finishes and customized millwork.  The paintwork has a vibrant blue that promotes the company’s branding and provides a fresh look to the new office. Additionally, the office features a significant amount of interior glasswork and a new, welcoming entrance with dramatic signage for the dairy cooperative.

“Given the timing of the start of Agri-Mark’s new lease, this was definitely a fast-track tenant fit-up,” said Ed Silva, principal, Vantage Builders.  “We enjoy getting offices ready for Boston Properties’ impressive list of tenants.  And we appreciate the opportunity to work with a company like Agri-Mark that has such deep local roots.”

“We took the opportunity of a lease expiration to conduct an extensive space search, with the goal of modernizing and right-sizing our office,” said Bill Beaton, senior vice president of human resources at Agri-Mark.  “Our newly constructed location in Andover perfectly meets our needs and will allow us to more efficiently support our dairy farm families.  We appreciate the efforts of the Vantage team in creating our new corporate headquarters.”

When it comes to corporate interior spaces for both commercial and industrial projects, partnering with a design-build firm with in-house interior design services can offer clients many benefits. Unlike traditional delivery methods where interior designers operate independently from the design and construction teams, often creating a longer project timeline as cost negotiations and revisions ensue

State legislature ends session without passing PLA bill - by Joe Camilo

Massachusetts taxpayers dodged a bullet when the state Senate didn’t take up legislation passed by the House in the waning moments of the legislative session that would have made it easier for municipalities and state agencies to use union-only project labor agreements (PLAs) on construction projects.

Ask the Electrician: How do I prepare my commercial building for a disaster?

New England’s notorious weather – from fierce winter storms to summer squalls and fall hurricanes – can leave businesses in the dark. While power outages are often blamed on storms, they can also be caused by unforeseen events like accidents or construction mishaps. While it’s impossible to prevent disasters and power outages entirely, proactive preparation can significantly minimize their impact on your commercial building.
