BOMA International addresses industry recruiting challenges

In an effort to address the current talent crunch in the commercial real estate industry, BOMA International has launched a new career center (www.boma.org/careercenter) offering a variety of new and improved tools and resources. Designed to meet the demands of employers and job seekers alike, the site features articles, books, job descriptions, industry links and educational resources. For job seekers, the site features extensive information about careers in commercial real estate. A list of commercial real estate job functions describes the roles and responsibilities of asset managers, commercial brokers, facility managers, portfolio managers and several other industry professions. Potential property professionals will also find links to compensation surveys, articles on the up-and-coming generation of commercial real estate leaders, and BOMA education, such as the newly-introduced Foundations of Real Estate Management course. BOMA International has partnered with the SelectLeaders Job Network, a unique alliance of twelve of the top real estate associations, which makes the site one of the most comprehensive and powerful employment resources in the commercial real estate business. This partnership offers job seekers access to positions from more than 5,000 commercial real estate employers. The BOMA International Career Center also serves as an innovative resource for employers looking to recruit and retain quality talent, a key industry concern. The new site offers a way for employers to access a wide pool of qualified candidates, including a free internship jobs posting service which, in a highly competitive recruiting environment, is a powerful way to attract new talent to the industry. In addition to a myriad of career resources, the new BOMA Career Center also features a video promoting careers in commercial real estate management. Produced by BOMA/San Francisco, the DVD is a great recruiting tool showcasing the life of commercial real estate young professionals. The video is also available for purchase online at the BOMA online bookstore. For more information on the new BOMA Career Resource Center, visit www.boma.org/careercenter.
