BLT seeks to add three more apartment buildings to Stamford's South End

Building and Land Technology, the developer of the 80-acre mixed-use project on the west branch of Stamford Harbor, recently submitted a new application to start construction of the next phase of the Harbor Point development. This phase will include three new residential buildings which will range in height from nine to 22 stories and contain 645 apartments. The three buildings will face the recently created 4.5 acre Commons Park and offer indoor parking, a fitness center, a landscaped rooftop terrace with two swimming pools and views of Long Island Sound, as well as a free jitney service to the Stamford Train Station and all of Harbor Point. Construction is ready to commence this summer and the apartment homes will be available in the spring of 2012. In making the submission, Carl Kuehner, III, CEO of Building and Land Technology said he was confident in the success of this new phase. "We have seen such an overwhelming demand for high quality rental housing in Stamford at both our Lofts at Yale & Towne and 101 Park Place communities. I look forward to opening these new apartments and continuing the successful revitalization of Stamford's waterfront." Stamford mayor, Michael Pavia said, "I see these three new residential buildings, including the dynamic 22-story tower, as further proof of the rebirth of the South End and of the City of Stamford's ability to work with private enterprises to create jobs and housing and maintain Stamford's position as the leader in economic development in the region."
