BELIMO Americas’ North American headquarters receives LEED Gold

Danbury, CT Completed in September 2014, BELIMO Americas’ North American headquarters has received LEED Gold Certification. Perched on its new 34-acre site, the 195,000 s/f facility designed by The S/L/A/M Collaborative (SLAM) comprises 129,000 s/f of logistics and manufacturing space, 15,000 s/f of test labs, and 51,000 s/f of office space across three stories.

BELIMO is a Switzerland-based company and the recognized global market leader in the development, production, and marketing of actuators, valves, and sensor solutions for controlling heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems.

The new headquarters was designed with future expansion in mind, and features an HVAC installation allowing visitors to see BELIMO products in action. BELIMO thrives on design and innovation, fairness to customers and employees alike and is committed to environmental responsibility and sustainability. The project’s directive was to reflect these values and the culture of BELIMO throughout the design where the response created a building that is both utilitarian and dynamic—forward-looking with clean lines and a high level of transparency, while providing uniqueness to a modern office environment.

The project rated 62 points in the LEED Gold Certification category and rated 19 out of 19 points in the energy performance optimization model, projecting 48% in energy savings over the base line.  The facility also incorporates many of its own energy-saving products throughout the facility.

SLAM provided architectural design, interior design and structural engineering services while Consulting Engineering Services (CES) served as MEP engineer; Milone & MacBroom served as civil engineer and landscape architect; and A/Z Corporation served as the construction manager on the project.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
