ASM to open new office at One Washington Mall

Over the past several weeks, construction crews from ASM member companies have been turning a vacant space at One Washington Mall into offices for ASM - our first ever! For nearly 60 years, ASM has been housed in the law firm of Corwin & Corwin, counsel to the association, and the arrangement has worked well. However, as ASM has grown (now topping 400 members!), our workload has exploded and along with it, the need for additional space. The new offices will not only give us room to work more productively, but will also allow us to hire additional staff to better serve the members. Work has been progressing at a rapid pace (with no general contractor involved, we might add!), and is expected to be completed in time to allow move in by May 1. It has been a real pleasure to experience first-hand the professionalism of ASM members, and all of their workers, throughout the project. We extend special thanks to the companies that are doing the work or have provided the materials: A & A Window Products, Capital Carpet, Cheviot Corp., Coghlin Electrical, Energy Insulation, J & M Brown, JC Cannistraro, Lan-Tel Communications, Manganaro Northeast, ML McDonald, SOS, United HVAC, and Wayne J. Griffin Electric. We also extend our appreciation to dozens of other members who have contributed generously to our Building Fund, even in these difficult times. The project is not only a testament to our progress as an association, but more importantly, an investment in our future, and we are grateful to all those who have helped make it possible.

Ask the Electrician: How do I prepare my commercial building for a disaster?

New England’s notorious weather – from fierce winter storms to summer squalls and fall hurricanes – can leave businesses in the dark. While power outages are often blamed on storms, they can also be caused by unforeseen events like accidents or construction mishaps. While it’s impossible to prevent disasters and power outages entirely, proactive preparation can significantly minimize their impact on your commercial building.
