ASM supports education for the future

ASM-2015 Scholarship winnersBoston, ma With an eye to the future, ASM is committed to supporting the professional development of the next generation of industry leaders, through several initiatives.

Read about last year’s recipients.

First is our popular scholarship program, which has awarded over $60,000 in scholarships to more than 30 deserving students from member companies in recent years.  This year, ASM will be awarding five scholarships at $2,000 each, to college bound seniors or returning under-grads. The application deadline is April 1 – so we encourage members to get the word out to their employees with college-age children.

Taking it a step further, ASM is now also offering tuition reimbursement grants of up to $1,000 to help cover the costs of continuing education and training for the young professionals in ASM companies. New in 2016, the Young Professionals Leadership Development Fund was established through a generous $5,000 sponsorship from Alliant Insurance. The grants are available on a first-come, first-served basis, for any programs or courses related to a career in the construction industry.

And finally, to help companies directly, ASM is holding a special event on March 23 featuring presentations by Northeastern University and Wentworth Institute of Technology on their internship programs, co-operative education programs, and graduate level courses in construction management.  The program focuses on how to build top talent for the future, but bringing students and graduates from these institutions into their companies – or by by enrolling current employees for advanced training.
