ASM helps build industry talent

Boston, MA It’s no secret that the construction industry has a shortage of talent right now, and not enough young people choosing construction careers.  ASM is working with other industry groups on ways to attract more young people into the construction industry, but also doing its its part to help young professionals in the industry get the training they need to have successful and sustainable long-term careers.

Just this month, we provided members a special opportunity to send their young management-level employees to AGC of Massachusetts’ Young Contractors Professional Institute, which consists of 12 half-day seminars from January to June that build skills, teach best practices, and improve job performance. Supplementing this will be ASM’s own educational programs, always geared to enhancing professional skills.

In addition, we are offering $1,000 grants from a special Young Professionals Leadership Development Fund to help defray the cost of any construction-related continuing education or training program.

With an eye to the future, ASM is also proud to continue our college scholarship program, in which we award five $2,000 scholarships to deserving students whose parents work for ASM member companies.

Collectively, these initiatives represent our growing efforts to help young people achieve their goals, encourage careers in construction and help companies develop their next generation of leaders.
