Aron of Metrowest Commercial R.E sells The Fabric Place site for $1.625 million

Framingham, MA Downtown’s anchor retail property for over 60 years has been sold by Marlene Aron, senior broker of Metrowest Commercial R.E. 

Known as The Fabric Place site, located at 136 Howard St., two sisters started Sportswear Inc., and later changed the name to The Fabric Place. The property was passed to family members and the business continued until 6 years ago.

The 1.95 acre parcel drew the attention of housing developers and was sold to Wood Partners for $1.625 million. Wood Partners was able to permit the site for 170 apartments with onsite parking and 2,600 s/f of retail.
Wood Partners also bought a church building that was surrounded by the main parcel on three sides.

Aron, who also serves as vice president of Downtown Framingham, Inc., a nonprofit organization that was formed to foster economic development in downtown, said, “In 2017, I sold the two former TD Bank buildings located across from the Fabric Place parcel to an investor, the Salvation Army building will hopefully close in two months, the Rte. 135 former Harley Davidson site is permitted for apartments and there are three other sites in various stages of permitting for apartments. Keep your eyes on Downtown Framingham - the next two years, we are going see tremendous growth.”
