Acella Const. Corp. breaks ground on 17,700 s/f project for Advanced Veterinary Specialty Center of New England

Walpole, MA Acella Construction Corp., a leader in construction management throughout greater Boston, has broken ground on a 17,700 s/f addition to Advanced Veterinary Specialty Center of New England at 2250 Providence Hwy.

The veterinary practice, owned by Dr. Stephanie Kube, has grown significantly since opening in 2014 and has tripled its number of patients.

The expansion, designed and under construction by the Acella team, will include examination, X-ray, MRI, and CT rooms, a full lobby, large waiting area, offices, and restrooms.

The ground-up expansion to the existing 3,664 s/f ground floor (and 3,664 s/f basement) entails site demolition, excavation, footings, installation of a complete drainage system, and underground infiltration and septic system. Extensive medical gas and chilled water piping will be installed throughout the building, and vaulted ceilings with wood-paneled ceilings will be featured. The exterior will include Hardie plank siding and a storefront vestibule.

Capone Architecture of Scituate, Mass., is serving as project architect. Engineering firms of record are Wozney Barbar & Associates, Inc. in Hanover, Mass., RFS Engineering in Laconia, N.H., and Glossa Engineering, Inc. in East Walpole, Mass. Pier Bruno of Commercial Lending Advisors serves as the business consultant and owner’s project manager.

The financing for this project was made possible by MassDevelopment’s allocation of the U.S. Department of Treasury’s State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI), which enables MassDevelopment to offer enhanced loans and guarantees with flexible terms and a particular focus on businesses within socially and economically disadvantaged areas and/or businesses owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals. MassDevelopment partnered with Needham Bank to provide loan financing for this project.

“Healthcare facility construction necessitates highly skilled expertise and once again our Healthcare Team is rising to the challenge of a project that requires installation of complex medical delivery systems,” said Ryan LaVangie, vice president of sales and marketing for Acella Construction. “It gives us great satisfaction to see this project underway and know that the present and future patients at Veterinary Neurology and Pain Management will soon receive their care in a spacious building equipped with state-of-the-art medical devices.”
