Acella completes 6,700 s/f Berrybrook School

Acella Construction Corporation, one of New England's leading construction services firms, specializing in construction management, general contracting, design-build, and pre-construction services, has completed construction of the Berrybrook School at 267 Winter St. The 6,700 s/f building is located on the 60-acre agricultural site of an 18th century farmhouse and was designed to reflect the style of the site's original architecture. The project features a new wood frame building with asphalt shingles, hardy plank siding, and Azek trim boards. The building contains three handicapped-accessible classrooms and one large multipurpose room. Each classroom has been designed for a specific activity. There is staff kitchen and full kitchen with low counters for the children to interact. Interior finishes include acoustical ceilings, drywall soffits and a wall with multiple paint schemes. The floors are finished with carpet and marmoleum tiles. The building features a complex air conditioning system. Heating is achieved through heating coils and radiant heat run in the floor throughout the building. "This was an exciting challenge for our team and we're very pleased with the finished project," said Robert Johnson, president of Acella Construction. "We aspired to build a school that reflected Berrybrook's unique culture, as well as the historic nature of the campus." Acella worked in conjunction with architectural design team Strekalovsky Architecture, a Hingham-based architectural design firm.
