A.J. Martini built Winchester Hospital Center for Cancer Care awarded LEED Gold

The Winchester Hospital Center for Cancer Care was awarded LEED Gold certification for achieving high performance in key areas of human and environmental health including sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality. The Center for Cancer Care boasts natural lighting, warm tones and inviting places for patients, family members and friends. The center also offers a fireplace, skylights, artwork, comfortable chairs, a café and Wi-Fi. A.J. Martini, Inc., (www.ajmartini.com) the construction management firm for the project, coordinated the installation, verification and documentation of all green building requirements for LEED gold certification. They also executed all construction activity in compliance with LEED Gold standards including the recycling of construction and demolition debris. "Achieving LEED Gold was truly an accomplishment for all team members," said Peter Martini, project executive from A.J. Martini. "From Winchester Hospital's leadership and commitment, to architect Steffian Bradley's incorporation of LEED design elements, to the implementation of on-site sustainable construction practices, the team collectively delivered a project that will provide health care to the community in an inviting, healthful and energy efficient environment for years to come." "The Center for Cancer Care will not only provide clinical and supportive care services to the community," said Robby Robertson, vice president of facilities and real estate "but it will do so in a way that's both comforting and inviting in an energy efficient environment." LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is an internationally recognized mark of excellence, providing building owners and operators with a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.
