2nd annual GC Showcase a hit with members

On Nov. 7, ASM hosted its second annual "GC Showcase," and it was a sell-out, with more than 120 subcontractors turning out to meet with 10 of the region's leading general contractors, in small roundtable sessions. Participants this year included Barr & Barr, Columbia Construction, Commodore Builders, Dimeo Construction, Erland Construction, John Moriarty & Associates, Linbeck, Mark Truant & Associates, Skanska, and Walsh Brothers. Each company brought 2-3 top line decision-makers, who were stationed at tables throughout the room. Over the course of two hours, ASM members moved in small groups to five different companies, spending about 20 minutes with each getting essential information about company procedures, market niche and upcoming projects, and engaging in a lively Q & A exchange. A reception at the end allowed for additional conversations. Both subcontractors and general contractors alike agreed it was a great format, providing an opportunity to make new connections or renew relationships from years past. The event was a networking goldmine! ASM extends special thanks to our Gold Sponsors, Barr & Barr and Dimeo Construction, and to our ASM corporate sponsors, Applegate Associates, NES Rentals, Smith Buckley & Hunt, Topaz Engineering Supply, Triumph Leasing, and United Solutions.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
