2024 Women in Construction: Valerie Sullivan, HFA Architecture + Engineering

Valerie Sullivan
Architect
HFA Architecture + Engineering

What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months?

My greatest professional achievement so far in my career is becoming a registered architect. A lot of hard work and determination is required to commit to and complete the registration process and it is so rewarding once it is achieved. To me, it was not only a significant professional milestone but a personal one, as well. Completing my architectural registration was and is my promise to myself to take great pride in my career and the work that I do. It is an important part of who I am, and I am proud to call myself an architect.

What has been the driving force behind your success in the AEC industry?

I believe my success is not only dependent upon my own dedication to my work but is more importantly a product of the individuals I have been surrounded and inspired by along the way. I know my success in the AEC industry is shaped by the lessons I’ve learned and skills I’ve been taught by the wonderful architects, engineers, contractors, and clients I’ve had the pleasure to work with over the years. I thrive when I learn and grow with others to create the best work together and look forward to doing so for many years to come.
