2024 Women in Construction: Stephanie Cavanagh, Contractors Risk Management

Stephanie Cavanagh, CSP, CHST
Occupational Safety & Health Consultant
Contractors Risk Management

What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months? My greatest achievements this past year have been earning my Certified Safety Professional (CSP) credentials and having had the opportunity to create stronger relationships with our clients. Working in the consulting field allows me to encounter a large variety of projects in all different phases of construction. I am able to gain a unique perspective on safety, as I get to see it from different vantage points - from the boots on the ground to the estimators and engineers. Developing strong relationships allows me to grow and expand my knowledge of construction safety, and to be the best advocate I can be to get everybody home safely.

What has been the driving force behind your success in the AEC industry? The driving force behind my success in the AEC industry are the people I interact with every day in the field. It is because of them that I am continuously learning and expanding my skillset. These are real people with real stories and real families. They inspire me to put my best foot forward and help provide them with tools for success. Safety is so much more than following a rule book; it is creating workable solutions that can be successfully implanted in day-to-day tasks.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
