2024 Women in Construction: Risa Taylor, Metro Walls

Risa Taylor
Director of HR and People Operations
Metro Walls

What has been the driving force behind your success in the AEC industry?

For me, there is only one answer to this and that is my passion for people. Without our people, there would be no industry. We are fortunate that we don’t work in an industry that is going to lose jobs to AI, BI, or most automation. I believe that if there is a way to enhance work experience by utilizing those tools, more jobs will be created, which will extend the tenure of our workers. My driving force has been taking care of Team Metro. Providing a way for them to grow, continue to learn, and excel in their careers.

What are your goals for the future?

It is interesting, my personal goals are tied so closely to my professional goals. Creating career paths for our employees, along with best-in-class employee experiences are at the top of my list. Getting the name of our company out there as hosting top-rated internship programs, expanding opportunities to women in construction; the list goes on and on. One step at a time they say! This industry is so exciting, at the end of the day we all are building something, and I love being a part of that.
