2024 Women in Construction: Megan Fitzgerald, Vantage Builders, Inc.

Megan Fitzgerald
Estimator
Vantage Builders, Inc.

What is your favorite / most beneficial part of Women in Construction week? Each Women in Construction week I really enjoy reading what the other women in this industry have to say. I find it very rewarding to hear other people’s stories about how and why they found their way to the construction industry. I believe it is an opportunity to learn from their experience and absorb any advice they may share. I am usually scrolling LinkedIn this week, liking and sharing every post I see.

What are your goals for the future? My short-term goal is to continue my path of becoming a more experienced and knowledgeable estimator. I have plenty of people around me that have taught me so much already. At Vantage Builders, I am fortunate to have the opportunity to work on a variety projects, whether its size or market sector or client business, so there is always something new to learn. My long-term goal would be to become a mentor to others. I have always enjoyed any opportunity where I can teach someone, and it would be rewarding to be able to give back within the industry.

What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months? My greatest professional achievement is where I stand today. I am proud of where I am in my career and of all the accomplishments I have made along the way, no matter how big or small. An example of an achievement of the last few years, would be starting my job with Vantage Builders’ estimating team. Everyone has been great to work with and I have learned so much from each person. I am very happy where I am, and happiness is a great measure of success.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
