2024 Women in Construction: Cassie Norton, ARCO National Construction | New England

Cassie Norton
Project Manager
ARCO National Construction | New England

What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months? I had the opportunity to manage a ground-up warehouse for Marcus Partners/Howland Development in Bellingham, Mass., consisting of a nine-acre site with two offsite improvement road widening projects and a 124,200 s/f building with a steel structure & tilt panels. We broke ground in the summer of 2023, built through the winter and are wrapping things up for completion in spring 2024!

What has been the driving force behind your success in the AEC industry? Everyone on my team has been the driving force to my success. From my coworkers and clients to our engineers, architects, subcontractors and beyond, my success is based on everyones passion and dedication to the project. In the AEC industry, everything is team based and for one person to succeed, I believe everyone on the team has to as well.

What is your favorite / most beneficial part of Women in Construction week? The camaraderie, for sure. It’s inspiring to see other women thrive in this industry and know we’re all in it together!

Who or what inspired you to join the AEC industry? I have always been fascinated by how something is built and the process that goes along with it. Taking an idea from concept to completion—particularly in design/build—is exciting to me. Realizing the scope of many of these projects and what it takes to cross the finish line is incredibly rewarding.

What are your goals for the future? My goals are to continue to make our clients happy, and to make the experience engaging and enjoyable while delivering our projects on time and within budget!

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
