2024 Women in Construction: Enya Xu, JGE Architecture + Design

Enya Xu
Project Designer
JGE Architecture + Design

Who or what inspired you to join the AEC industry? I did not realize architecture was a white male-dominated field until my first year of college. The first architect I met was a woman. She taught architecture as an elective in my high school, and I was in her course for three years. My first two studio professors in university were also female. Learning from such strong women during my teens, solidified my desire to pursue architecture and it felt like I had a place in this field. I also understood early on that my identity as a minority female is of high value.

What are your goals for the future? To become licensed and hopefully be my own boss!
