“Sean prides himself on being everywhere – creating authentic connections across small business, art, music, restaurants, and just generally what’s new and next in Boston’s culture. He’s a terrific facilitator and he’s catalyzing how to leverage the post-pandemic environment to make Downtown a high-energy destination for generations to come.” - Michael Nichols, President at Downtown Boston BID.
In the last 12 months what accomplishment are you most proud of? I’m proudest of helping small businesses secure funding from the City of Boston’s SPACE Grant program. We’ve successfully landed two new businesses downtown, with four more close to finalizing leases. My role as a connector and facilitator has been instrumental in navigating these opportunities, providing critical support. Seeing these businesses thrive and contribute to our district’s vibrancy is incredibly rewarding and showcases the importance of community and collaboration.
How do you balance your rising career with your personal life? I balance my career and personal life by unplugging in nature with my dogs, Tanka and Coco, exploring New England trails. I immerse myself in Roxbury’s vibrant culture, attending unique art events, which keeps me inspired and motivated. Prioritizing mental health is key, so I work out regularly, practice yoga, and meditate. These activities help me stay connected to my center, maintaining a healthy balance between personal fulfillment and professional growth.
Who are the key people in your life that have contributed to your success? My parents, especially my father, have been pivotal, instilling in me a strong foundation in real estate and entrepreneurship. Mentors like Philip Barash and my manager Michael Nichols have significantly contributed, providing wisdom, support, and opportunities that align with my strengths and passions. Philip’s recognition of my individuality and Michael’s team-first leadership have been crucial, encouraging me to think outside the box, embrace my multifaceted interests, and elevate my professional game.
Outside of your career, where else do you seek continuous learning and personal growth? I seek growth by exploring new creative skills like photography, video editing, woodworking, and painting. Traveling is another passion; my recent trip to Colombia inspired me to become fluent in Spanish, enhancing my ability to connect with diverse cultures. By continually challenging myself to learn and adapt, I aim to be a well-rounded creative and global citizen, constantly evolving and expanding my horizons beyond my professional endeavors.
