2023 Women in CRE: Cassandra Bartman, The Bulfinch Companies, Inc.

Cassandra Bartman
Associate, Senior Property Accountant
The Bulfinch Companies, Inc.

What are the most important factors women in your industry should consider when choosing a firm to build their career with? Women should consider firms that recognize diverse goals and choices by providing equal opportunities and supportive relationships in an empowering environment while allowing space for personal fulfillment. I am proud to work at a company that supports equal opportunities for women including CREW’s CEO Pledge for Action and BWWC.

Who inspires you most? What qualities do they possess that inspire you? I recently attended a talk by Diva Amon. She is a marine biologist focused on the deep ocean and how our actions are impacting it. I’m inspired by her passionate stewardship and the ability to make an impact advising governments on policy, and her positive representation of women in STEM.

Why should this nominee be recognized in our Women in Commercial Real Estate Spotlight? “Cass’ strong work ethic and collaborative approach to problem solving make her a valuable member of the Bulfinch team. She brings considerable accounting knowledge to her role with a focus on enhancing efficiency through technology. She has played an important part in helping to adopt new technology for the accounting team.” - Pamela Yang, Managing Director, COO at Bulfinch.

What recent project, transaction, or accomplishment are you most proud of? At various firms throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to implement automation tools and software to increase productivity and reduce redundancies. I trained colleagues on these new tools and took their feedback and suggestions for further enhancements to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
