2023 Women in CRE: Brenna Guay, DiPrete Engineering

Brenna Guay
Project Engineer
DiPrete Engineering

What recent project, transaction, or accomplishment are you most proud of? The recent accomplishment I am most proud of is my promotion to a Project Engineer. Working in the engineering industry for eight years and switching departments every couple of years always kept me in a new role. Since I have found the department I am the most passionate about, site civil design, it is my biggest accomplishment yet to move up, have a larger influence on younger staff, and move their careers along as well.

What are the most important factors women in your industry should consider when choosing a firm to build their career with? The most important factor is to join a company whose culture matches your values – a company that accepts tattoos and blue hair or whatever you would traditionally suppress in an interview. Make sure your opinions are considered in collaborative situations and your voice is heard as much as the supervisors.

Who inspires you most? What qualities do they possess that inspire you? The women I work with, who have taught me that I have a voice in my industry, the men who speak highly of me when I am not in the room, and without sounding vain, I inspire myself. I am proud of the obstacles I have overcome with poise and positivity.

Why should this nominee be recognized in our Women in Commercial Real Estate Spotlight? “Brenna is an exceptionally hard working project engineer known for her attention to detail and outstanding teamwork. She has quickly become a role model to junior colleagues by helping lead a wide range of engineering projects. Her dedication to meeting deadlines and understanding the client’s goal really sets her apart from her peers.” - Eric Prive, Senior Project Manager at DiPrete Engineering.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
